Earlier on Thursday, 4 October, the constitutional court of the Republic demanded that the agreement on establishing the borders of Ingushetia and Chechnya was considered at the Republican referendum. The President of the court Ayup Gagiev on his page in Facebook published a statement which said that members of the National Assembly of the Republic have no right to consider this agreement.
Approval of the agreement took place against the backdrop of mass protests in Ingushetia. In particular, according to activists, the exchange of land between Chechnya and Ingushetia is not equal.
Agreement on the exchange of non-residential land between Chechnya and Ingushetia was signed by the heads of the republics Ramzan Kadyrov and Yunus-Bek Yevkurov on September 26.
Disagreements about the border between Ingushetia and Chechnya emerged from the heads of subjects in 2012. Then the parties are unable to divide the Sunzha and Malgobek districts. Each Republic created the Commission for the definition of territorial-administrative borders with a neighbor.
