Japan protested Russian plans to conduct the shooting in the area of the Kuril Islands and expressed Moscow protest. It is reported RIA Novosti on Wednesday, October 10.

According to the Secretary-General of the government, Yoshihide Suga, that “Russia plans to conduct the shooting in the area of the Kuril Islands, will lead to strengthening the military presence of the Russian army on the four Northern Islands [Kunashir, Iturup, Shikotan and Habomai] that does not coincide with the position of Tokyo.”

As the Agency informed earlier, the Moscow advised Japan to conduct training exercises in the region.

In September, Russian President Vladimir Putin has invited Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe to conclude a peace Treaty before the end of the year, without preconditions. Japan refused to accept the offer of peace so long as the unresolved territorial dispute. 15 Sep Putin and Prime Minister of Japan held a private chat in Vladivostok.

The peace Treaty between Russia and Japan have not signed in for over 70 years. The conclusion of the Tokyo refers to the return of the Islands of Iturup, Kunashir, Shikotan and Habomai. Moscow believes that the Southern Kuril Islands became part of the Soviet Union at the end of the Second world war, and sovereignty over them is unquestionable.
