“It’s a lie that the Ukrainian government has nothing to do with the website that lists the suspects, the Ukrainian-Hungarian citizenship,” the Minister said.

Szijjártó explained that the list of officials of Transcarpathian region, have dual citizenship, there are personal data that can be obtained not from public sources, but exclusively from the government or the security services.

“In addition, one of the leaders of the organization, which was led by extremist website, worked in the Ukrainian security services,” the Minister said. “Peacemaker” was launched in 2014 on the initiative of Anton Gerashchenko, the then adviser to the Minister of internal Affairs of Ukraine Arsen Avakov, in November of the same year he became a member of Parliament.

“It is the duty of the Ukrainian state to protect its citizens, but it clearly does not,” — said Siyyarto.

What is happening in Ukraine, according to Szijjártó, is “in fact and purpose a hate campaign against members of the Hungarian national community, which is carried out with public support and the support of the state”. He added that the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has agreed to expand the campaign in an attempt to boost his popularity before presidential elections in 2019.

On 10 October the Ukrainian Ambassador to Hungary Love Nepop in connection with the publication of “Peacemaker” list Transcarpathian officials possessing Hungarian citizenship, was summoned to the Hungarian foreign Ministry. The call was linked with the appearance on the website of the Verkhovna Rada of the petition with the requirement to deport all dual citizens, Ukrainian and Hungarian, national. In addition, the concern of Budapest raised fears Kiev’s plans to establish a military base in the Transcarpathian region. Nepop explained that the leadership of the country has nothing to do with the activities of the “Peacemaker” and a petition on the Council website, and the placement of a military base in the Carpathians the interests of the inhabitants of the region.

The current crisis in relations between Ukraine and Hungary provoked the incident with the alleged distribution of the Hungarian Consulate in Beregovo, Transcarpathian region of Ukrainian passports to citizens, although it was probably the other documents. After mutual accusations, the Ukrainian foreign Ministry sent a Consul out of the country. Budapest used the mirror measures.
