Russian popular front (onf) will hold a large-scale survey, including among people with disabilities, and determine whether to abandon the use of the term “disabled” in legal documents. About it reported a press-release received by the editors”.ru”.
In addition to the survey of activists of the front will analyze media publications, social networks about the problems of Russians with disabilities. For a comprehensive study of the question will create a working group with the participation of experts and community members.
The organization believes the concept of “invalid” is incorrect in modern Russian realities. “The term says nothing about the rights and needs of people in this category, so our experts believe that it is more important to not change the word itself, and to make changes in its definition and interpretation,” – said the expert of the popular front for the disabled Alexander Lysenko.
According to him, the word “handicapped” today contains more than 18 thousands of Federal regulations and more in regional instruments. “Unfortunately, a complete replacement of the term will require a huge and costly operation,” — said Lysenko.
Earlier it was reported about the plans of the Ministry of labour to abandon the use of the term “disabled people” in the Russian legislation. The Agency considered this an outdated term.
