GRU caught in the cyber attack on the Kiev metro

Minister of infrastructure Volodymyr Omelian announced on the participation of the Main intelligence Directorate (GRU) of Russia in the cyber attacks on the Kiev metro and Odessa airport in October 2017. This information came from the National cyber security centre UK, said on the Ministry’s website.

“Provided by the National cyber security centre of the UK data confirmed the participation of specialists of the GRU of the Russian Federation in the attack on enterprises in October 2017. There is no guarantee that attempts by the scrapping of the critical companies in the industry will not happen again,” said Omeljan.

The Minister also spoke about his vision for the cyber security of enterprises of the transport sector. “Only by combining efforts, sharing information about cyber incidents and expertise, we can create a reliable and mutually beneficial mechanism to combat cyber terrorism,” — said Omeljan.

Vladimir Omelian not the first time acts with accusations against Russia. Earlier, on 9 October this year, he called Russia guilty of explosions in military warehouses in Chernihiv region.
