The Minister of internal Affairs of Saudi Arabia, Prince Abdul-Aziz Ibn Saud Ibn Naif, said that his country’s authorities condemned “false accusations” in the kidnapping of journalist-opposition activist Jamal Khashoggi. According to the Minister, information about the order to kill the journalist — lies and allegations. On 12 October, reported Saudi Press Agency.

The Prince stressed that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia cares about the respect for international law and the interests of its citizens both within the country and abroad. He supported the idea of cooperation of Turkish and Saudi intelligence in the investigation and said about the sincere desire of the authorities to find out the truth about the disappearance of a journalist.

Khashoggi missing on 2 October after he entered the Consulate General of Saudi Arabia in Istanbul. At the request of the authorities he had personally obtained from the diplomatic representation divorce papers. The journalist left his wife to wait at the entrance, but never came back.

The workers claim that he “just left.” The Turkish authorities have suggested that Saudi security forces killed a journalist in the building and took the body in one of the tinted car, repeatedly call in on the territory of the Consulate General that day. A black van caught on surveillance cameras, was declared wanted.

A source at the British foreign Ministry said that in connection with the incident, the UK will impose sanctions on representatives of power structures and officials of Saudi Arabia. In the framework of the “Magnitsky amendment” providing for sanctions in response to human rights violations, the names involved in the incident individuals will be published.

Khashoggi was known as a critic of the Saudi government. In 2017, he moved to the United States, where he wrote in the Washington Post column criticizing the reforms of crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
