Prisoners of the Yaroslavl colonies were fed with a shovel

One of the prisoners medical-correctional establishment (LIU) no 9 in Uglich, Yaroslavl region declared a dry hunger strike after hospital staff began to give convicts the bowl of food on the shovel, the human rights Fund “Public verdict”.

The Fund suggested that a shovel could use to humiliate people or out of fear of becoming infected.

The report notes that the lawyer “Public verdict” Eldar Luzin tried to get into LIU No. 9 to verify this information, but it was not allowed with the wording: “the Prisoner wants to meet you”.

Human rights activists appealed to the Yaroslavl management of Federal penitentiary service and the Prosecutor’s office on supervision of correctional facilities.

In early October, another prisoner medical-correctional establishment LIU No. 10 in Omsk, – has told to journalists about the systematic abuse of prisoners, and the lawlessness of the administration and the inaction of the local public monitoring Commission.
