Europe must understand that will put “own territory under the threat of a possible retaliation” from Moscow, if you agree to place US missiles. This was stated by the President of Russia Vladimir Putin at a press conference after talks with Prime Minister of Italy, reports “Interfax”.
“The most important question: if the United States withdraws from the Treaty [INF], what will they do with these newly emerging missiles. If they are raised in Europe, then naturally we will have to meet the mirror”, he said.
According to him, it is unlikely that Europe should bring to this state a high degree of risk. “I don’t see really any reason for this”, — stressed the head of state.
Putin also said that he wanted to discuss the US withdrawal from the Treaty on the elimination of intermediate-range nuclear forces (INF) personally with the American President Donald trump at a meeting in Paris.
Earlier, the Minister of defence of Russia Sergey Shoigu said that Poland plans to place in the U.S. division force Moscow to take retaliatory measures.
Trump, on 20 October announced his country’s exit from the INF Treaty. According to him, he was forced to take such a step, as Moscow violates this agreement. He added that permits the conclusion of new deals with Russia and China.
The Russian foreign Ministry rejected the possibility of concluding a new missile Treaty and warned US about the response, not excluding, in particular, their military-technical nature.
