Scientists of the Swiss Institute of tropical and public health concluded that high levels of urban noise significantly increases the risk of cardiovascular disease. About it reported in a press release on EurekAlert!.
The researchers analyzed 19.2 thousand deaths recorded in Switzerland from 2000 to 2008. Experts have identified the relationship of disorders of the cardiovascular system chronic effects on the body particles in the air. It turned out that the risk of heart attacks increased by 5.2% for every additional 10 micrograms of fine particles (diameter less than 2.5 microns) per cubic meter.
However, air pollution is correlated with the noise level, because both factors are the cars. Adjusted for the impact of noise risk of seizures because of the pollution increased by only 1.9 percent for every 10 micrograms of particles per cubic meter. Thus, the probability of failures in the work of the heart increases by 2-3,4 percent for every 10 decibels of volume.
