Residents of the regions has put forward the name of the leader of the music group “Leningrad” Sergei Shnurov as additional names of the airport in St. Petersburg. This was reported on the official website launched in October, the national project “Great names of Russia”.
For inclusion in the long list of the competition, candidates must collect more than 500 votes. It is noted that, in addition to Shnurov, to this threshold approached, the philosopher Immanuel Kant, in whose honor was offered to call the airport in Kaliningrad.
At the moment the list already got the scientist Mikhail Lomonosov, whose name was one of the variants of the name of the airport in Arkhangelsk, and the goalkeeper Moscow “Dynamo” Lev Yashin (his name it is proposed to rename the airport Sheremetyevo).
11 October, Russia launched the nationwide competition “Great names of Russia”. According to the concept of the project, the names of 45 Russian airports will complement the names of prominent compatriots: musicians, artists, scientists, military and so on. The selected names will be additionally assigned to existing official names of the airports in the country.
Voting will take place in four stages. Until October 28 the residents of the regions will be able to offer the names of their great countrymen, will then be formed in long sheets of a contest after that will be short-lists and final results of voting will choose the winners.
