Turkey has prepared a request for extradition from Saudi Arabia 18 suspects in the murder of a Saudi journalist Jamal Hakuji, reports Reuters.
According to Ankara, the country has great potential for further justice. A Turkish court will be open to foreign observers to ensure transparency of the process. As stated in the Ministry of justice, 18 suspects planned to press charges for premeditated murder with special cruelty.
Earlier on 26 October, the king of Saudi Arabia Salman bin Abdul-Aziz told about the measures undertaken for disclosure of all the facts and circumstances of the murder of Hakuji. According to him, Riyadh intends to bring the perpetrators of the murder of journalist to justice. Before the authorities acknowledged the murder of 59-year-old journalist was intentional.
Hakuji went missing on 2 October in Istanbul. He went to the Consulate of Saudi Arabia in order to obtain the missing divorce papers. From the building of the diplomatic mission, he did not.
18 days later Riyadh acknowledged that the building of the Consulate General of the murder of the journalist. Turkish authorities said that the murder was cruel. According to press reports, the journalist was tortured by cutting off his fingers, and then beheaded.
