Ukrainian “Naftogaz” will be disbanded and split into two new companies, said in an interview with “UKRINFORM” the Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman.
“In any case, the separation of “Naftogaz” is inevitable: this includes European legislation — gas production on the one hand, and transport and storage — with another”, — the politician said.
According to him, this step was dictated, in particular, the requirements of the Third energy package — a set of rules governing the energy issues in the EU.
In this case, Groisman did not name the exact date of liquidation of “Naftogaz”. According to him, the first independent Supervisory Board should propose “a successful model of reorganization.” In addition, the company shall receive 2.6 billion dollars from “Gazprom” that in February she was awarded the Stockholm arbitration.
“Gazprom” and “Naftogaz” had legal proceedings in the Stockholm arbitration for claims regarding payment of the delivered gas and its transit. In the end, the court decided to recover compensation from both parties, but as a result of the offset of Gazprom owes $ 2.6 billion. In the future, the Russian company has challenged this decision, but Naftogaz is trying to secure his execution before the hearing of the appeal.
