The government of the Chukotka Autonomous district in three years plans to allocate to support herders and farmers almost five billion rubles. About this TASS was told in the regional Department of industrial and agricultural policy.
“To support the traditional activities of indigenous peoples of Chukotka and the development of farms in the period from 2019 to 2021 in the regional budget provided 4.7 million rubles,” — said the Agency.
The money will be spent on the salaries of herders, the purchase of equipment, tailoring of fur garments, increasing the reindeer, the support of livestock breeding and encourage the destruction of wolves on the routes of reindeer herding brigades.
Chukotka entrepreneurs receive state support for the development of peasant farms and personal subsidiary farms. In the village of Lawrence, the towns of Bilibino and Pevek will start financing poultry farming, vegetable growing, fisheries, food processing industry and gather wild plants.
The Agency notes that the aim of regional authorities is to develop food security in the County.
At the end of October it was reported that the Yakut reindeer herders for the first time in 15 years bought from colleagues Chukotka Chukotka 200 deer breed. In the future, such purchases are planned to be produced every five years.
