The President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko promised not to go to Moscow for the surrender of sovereignty for gas. He stated this during the presentation of the new Chairman of the Kiev region, the words of the Ukrainian leader posted on his official website.
“We can not allow any politicians, promising that gas, and before it was gasoline, sugar, and even before that the bread will be free, will be giving away. We have had enough. Free cheese only in a mousetrap. Or in the Imperial capital, Moscow, where it was necessary to drive to get gas and to take sovereignty. We will not allow a return to those times,” he said.
19 October, Prime Minister Vladimir Groisman reported that the Ukrainians from November 1 will increase gas prices by a quarter. According to the head of the government, the need to raise the price of gas arose because of debts of Ukraine to its international partners. Otherwise the Ukraine will be declared a default.
Only from November 2018 to may 2020 Ukrainians will raise three times the price of gas. In the second stage, prices will increase from 1 may to 31 December 2019, the third — from 1 January to 1 may 2020.
