“Certainly, it [domestic violence] is unacceptable, this is very bad, and we hope that such cases will be less,” — said Peskov.

So the representative of the Kremlin has commented on the report one of the human rights organizations on this issue. However, he admitted that no precise official statistics on the number of such offences.

He also did not comment on the report of the organization Human Rights Watch, which says about the deteriorating situation after the adoption of the law on decriminalization of a beating. “I can’t qualified to judge the effectiveness or ineffectiveness of law enforcement in this area,” he explained.

In January of last year, commenting on the draft law on decriminalization of family violence, Peskov urged to distinguish between “family relationships and relapse”.

The law on decriminalization of a beating in the family entered into force in February 2017. According to the document, the beatings committed for the first time, belong to administrative law.
