Medicines in Russia may rise by ten per cent from 2019. About this report “Izvestia” with reference to the Pharmacy Guild, market participants and experts.
According to experts, the increase is associated with a higher rate currency, so the most noticeable will increase prices on foreign drugs. However, domestic producers can raise prices because of the need to use imported components.
In addition to a probable jump of course, another factor is the increase of VAT from 18% to 20% from 1 January 2019. Despite the fact that the tax change will not apply to pharmaceuticals, companies will need to pay for transport, electricity and other expenses.
Another reason may be the need of the outlays of producers on the labeling with the elements of encryption, designed to remove counterfeit goods from pharmacies.
In July, the drug manufacturers warned of a possible price increase due to the requirements of the FSB to change the marking system. They note that the requirement of the FSB about encryption threatens the domestic pharmaceutical industry insulation.
