Swiss tennis player Roger Federer commented on the conflict of American Serena Williams with judge Carlos Ramos during the final match of the US Open in women’s singles. His words are quoted by BBC News.
“She went too far, she should have to finish the skirmish before. The judge may not ought to push it to the conflict. It’s unpleasant, but it is interesting to analyze the situation,” — said tennis player.
During the final of the US Open on 9 September, the player was punished by the judge for cues from the coach. Trying to convince him that she didn’t violate rules, American joined with him in the conflict, called a thief and a sexist. In the end, the athlete was fined one game and lost to the Japanese Naomi Osaka with the score 2:6, 4:6.
After that, according to The Times, leading tennis judges thought about the boycott of matches involving Williams. They also considered the possibility of establishment of trade unions.
