Almost 70 percent of Russians know nothing about the scandal of torture in the penal colony №1 of the Yaroslavl region, where a prisoner was beaten with batons and fists. This is evidenced by the results of the survey “Levada-center”, according to RBC.
69 percent of respondents learned about torture in the Yaroslavl colonies themselves sociologists. Another 23 percent of respondents had heard something about this story, but do not know the essence. Only seven percent were aware of the situation.
A third of respondents (33 percent) believe that the torture in Russian colonies are common. Another 40 percent admit the existence of certain irregularities on the part of the jailers. In the absence of torture believe 6 percent of respondents. One in five (21 percent) were undecided as to the torture of prisoners widespread.
More than half (57 percent) believe that bullying and beating prisoners will not be tolerated under any circumstances. More than a quarter (28 per cent) allow the use of force in some cases. A minority (7 percent) believe that prisoners are not entitled to a normal attitude.
