The Russians began to punish the Hogweed on the land. The first fine for the overgrown weeds was a suburban company “Junior”, which was ordered to pay 400 thousand rubles, reports TASS.
During the inspection the Rosselkhoznadzor representatives revealed, “the fact of overgrowing weeds and trees-Bush vegetation” in the area of seven hectares, said the Agency. It was not only about the Sosnowski’s Hogweed, but also about willow, silver birch and field sow Thistle.
The law on administrative responsibility for the cultivation of Hogweed in Moscow region entered into force on 1 November. The punishment envisages a fine from 2 to 5 thousand rubles for citizens, from 20 thousand to 50 thousand — for officials, from 150 thousand to a million — to organizations.
According to the Moscow authorities in the past year in the region this weed has covered more than 32 thousand hectares. In 2018 to fight it from the regional budget has allocated 300 million rubles.
The Sosnowski’s Hogweed — a poisonous plant which, when in contact with skin causes burns, and contact with eyes — blindness. After eating cows milk becomes bitter. In nature, the plant is aggressive and able to quickly grasp the habitats, resulting in the Soviet years it flooded a vast area.
