The claim of the company was adopted on October 3, but details became known only now. So, “Naftogaz” demands from the government compensation for the requirement to supply gas to the population at below-market prices in 2015, the authorities initially assured the company that this is a temporary measure.

However, the validity of preferential prices for the population were regularly renewed and lasted until 1 November 2018. The CEO of the company Yuriy Vitrenko on his page in Facebook said the company’s claims. He insists that the government has no right to set a “fair price”, and in the case of state price regulation authorities are obliged to pay compensation.

Ukrainian authorities regularly transferred increase in prices for gas for the population due to the fact that it is an acute social issue. However, the growth of prices demanded by the international monetary Fund (IMF), which several times put an ultimatum that doesn’t extend the program of financial assistance to the state if the government will not do this step. Since November, Naftogaz raised prices to the public in accordance with the decree of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine.
