The Russians in October began to spend more, but to leave in one store, less money have found out in their study the specialists of the centre “ROMIR”. This means that in search of the right product, buyers have to visit more outlets.
According to the study, the index of consumer activity in October grew by 3.1 percent in comparison with indicators of September. It is several times higher than the officially recorded inflation rate at 0.4 percent.
At the same time, annualized expenditures of Russians decreased by 0.6 percent compared with inflation of 3.5 percent. “Real, that is, cleared from inflation, the expenses of Russians on daily products by the end of October was lower than the same values for all previous years of observations. And if previously the lowest values of the real costs recorded in 2012, now even the minimum of six years ago was higher than the value of last October,” the study says.
The average check size at the end of October were down 2.7 percent. The authors call such a model the consumption of intense shopping and indicate that it results in savings because the citizens are buying less but more often.
