The Minister of foreign Affairs of Russia Sergey Lavrov reacted to the statement of Austria on the arrest of a Russian spy. This was reported by the RIA Novosti news Agency.
The foreign Minister said that Austria had addressed directly to Russia its concerns and suspicions in connection with the spy scandal. He lamented the fact that the government of Chancellor Sebastian Kurz has not resorted to the traditional, and the “microphone, megaphone” diplomacy and demanded a public explanation.
“We need to follow the rules that were developed during the formation of the practice of international communication. Today, we invite the Ambassador of the Austrian Republic to the Ministry of foreign Affairs and will attract his attention, and what methods you need to act if they have any questions to the Russian Federation,” Lavrov said at a press conference in Moscow.
Earlier, on 9 November it became known that in Austria on suspicion of working for Russia detained Colonel of the Austrian armed forces. The Austrian President Sebastian Kurz urged the Russian side to answer, and the Minister of foreign Affairs has canceled a planned December visit to Russia.
