Earlier stolen relics of the Russian Emperor Alexander II will return to St. Nicholas Cathedral in nice. It is reported by RIA Novosti.
The relics were handed over to Russian Ambassador in France Alexei Meshkov. Among them, the shirt and vest of Alexander II, in which he was wearing during the assassination on 13 March 1881, three handkerchief with his initials-dress uniform of the Emperor and his portrait.
According to the President of the Association of Alexander Trubetskoy, the widow of Alexander II, Catherine Dolgorukov bequeathed things sacredly-the Nikolaev Cathedral in nice, but a few years ago they were stolen. Soon things of the Emperor will return back to the Cathedral.
“Fortunately, Russia has very good friends in France, and French Ministry of culture perceives the protection of culture very seriously”, — said the employee of the Embassy.
In 2016 on the website Avito found the announcement of the sale of the old gate, which for several decades was considered to be missing. Previously, they were installed at the entrance to the Villa of the Emperor Alexander II in Peterhof.
