The Russians were more likely to issue Schengen visas. It is reported, EU Ambassador to Russia Markus Ederer in an interview to “Interfax”.
“For 2017 was issued more than 3.8 million visas, which is 20 percent more than in 2016. The share of multiple-entry visas was 85 percent,” said Ederer.
He also added that Russia began to issue fewer visas to tourists from Europe. Despite the EU’s steps towards simplifying visa procedures in Russia, a decline in the number of issued visas to Europeans.
In June, the EU took the first step towards increasing the cost of a Schengen visa. It is assumed that the cost of the visa will be increased to 80 euros (5 878 rubles at the current exchange rate of the Central Bank). June 19, EU ambassadors approved on behalf of the Council of the European Union mandate for the negotiations on the proposal amending the visa code.
