The President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has proposed to rename the Dnipropetrovsk region. The corresponding bill submitted to the Verkhovna Rada, reported on the website of the Ukrainian President.
According to the document, proposed to be renamed Dnepropetrovsk in the Dnieper region. It is noted that the name of Dnipropetrovsk region contains a reference to the Chairman of the CEC of the USSR from the USSR Grigory Petrovsky and belongs “to the symbols of the Communist totalitarian regime”.
“The analysis shows that in the Dnieper region to vote for more than three hundred deputies. Need not PR, but the result — that is, the final completion of de-communization. Dnipropetrovsk region will be the Dnieper, and the place of the Petrovsky — the dustbin of history,” — said Poroshenko.
