The Deputy of the Saratov regional Duma from the Communist party Nikolai Bondarenko completed his experiment in which he had to eat a month on 3,5 thousand roubles — the amount of the minimum food basket in the region. He told about it to RIA Novosti news Agency.

“November 22 was the last day of the experiment, a total of I was on a “diet” for 31 days. I am feeling good,” he said. The politician added that he was able to save some some products — “a little soup, which was prepared for the future, and buckwheat”. Bondarenko has made it clear that the entire month fed cereals, vegetables and chicken, and the most difficult for him was the refusal of the sweets that he “just couldn’t afford it.”

Now the Deputy plans to visit a doctor who will assess the condition of his health, as well as conduct check weighing.

In the middle of the experiment Bondarenko said that he had come to the conclusion about the need to substantially increase the cost of living. “The basket must be at least 10 thousand rubles, a living wage — not less than 20 thousand rubles”, — he explained. He noticed that only this amount will allow citizens to buy “real milk, cheese, meat, fruit”.

Bondarenko decided to experiment and live on 3.5 thousand rubles per month after a controversial dispute with the already dismissed by the Minister of labour of the region Natalia Sokolova, who said that the living wage “is enough for minimum physiological needs.” On offer to try to live independently in the amount of 7241 ruble the official refused, saying that it will be her status.
