The result of the capital airport Sheremetyevo risks to remain without the name of Dmitri Mendeleev: for this option voted only 5.5 thousand people, while, for example, in Tyumen — almost 25 thousand people. Vnukovo is probably not getting the name of the aircraft designer Andrei Tupolev, nor the Creator of Soviet rocket and space technology Sergei Korolev, nor the founder of theoretical Astronautics Konstantin Tsiolkovsky.

It is clarified that at the moment the most active participation in competition was accepted by the residents of Ufa, where he voted already 95 thousand people with a population of just over one million people.

October 11, the Public chamber of Russia launched the nationwide competition “Great names of Russia”. According to its concept, the names of major Russian airports will complement the names of prominent compatriots.

The vote, following which each of the 47 airports of the parties will assign the name of the outstanding compatriot, held from 12 to 30 November. Anyone can vote for any name from the list on the website, social networks, and also by phone of the hot line.
