Britain should think in terms of the cold war to counter threats from such rogue States as Russia and Iran. This statement was made by the former head of the armed forces David Richards, reports The Telegraph.
“Britain may have to return to the mindset that helped win the cold war, if we want to effectively deal with the growing threat from Russia and Iran,” he said in an interview. Richards also supported the initiative of creation of a special combat unit of the Ministry of defense, who would be involved in the computation and assessment of the potential military threat.
In August, the British defense Secretary Gavin Williamson said that Russia is a threat to countries around the world. Before the United Kingdom Parliament urged to consolidate government agencies to counter the growing threat from Russia. Earlier MPs also demanded to increase military spending to counter “a resurgent threat from such States as Russia”.
