Russia has to refuse payment in dollars, although she wouldn’t like that, said President Vladimir Putin, quoted by RIA Novosti.
“We have no intention to move away from the dollar, we are forced to do it. I assure you, we will do… we just don’t want to do anything drastic that would harm us”, — said the head of state.
According to him, the dollar itself “away from us.” “And those who make the relevant decisions, they are shooting themselves not in the foot a little higher, because such instability in the calculation in dollars is the desire of many economies of the world to find an alternative reserve currency and create independent of the dollar system of accounts,” — said Putin.
Previously, the need of de-dollarization was supported by the bankers and officials, including the Minister of Finance Anton Siluanov and Minister of economic development and trade Ministry Maxim Oreshkin. In their opinion, Russia could suffer if the US imposes new sanctions will block Russian accounts in American banks. In this case, it would threaten the domestic foreign exchange reserves, denominated in dollars. As a solution it was proposed to transfer payments to foreign partners in other currencies, including the ruble, Euro and yuan.
