The head of the General staff of the Slovenian Armed forces appointed major General Alenka Ermenc. She became the first woman to hold this post, reports BBC News.

It is noted that Alenka Ermenc is in the armed forces of the Republic since 1991. In 2009, she graduated from the Royal military College in London and received a master’s degree. In November 2018, she was given the rank of major General.

Arment previously held the position of Deputy chief of the General staff. The former head of the armed forces of Slovenia major General Alan Feder was dismissed by decision of the government of the country. The relevant proposal was made by Minister of defence Carl Erjavec.

Earlier in may it was reported that the head of the Anglican Church of Canada for the first time in history appointed a woman. Melissa Skelton (Melissa Skelton) became the Archbishop and Metropolitan of the Church in the province of British Columbia and the Yukon territory.
