Herring proved to be hazardous to health

Expert centre of the Russian consumers Union “Roskontrol” conducted a study of preserves from herring. Was checked preserves five brands: Meridian, VICI, “the Baltic coast”, “A’more” and “Every day”.

Experts have tested samples on 40 parameters, including heavy metals and comply with the marking. It turned out that the preserves under the brand name “Baltic coast” contains four times the maximum allowable value the number of mesophilic aerobic and facultative anaerobic bacteria (an indicator of the “purity” of raw materials).

In the sample under the brand name “A’more” was discovered coliform bacteria. In herring under the brands of Meridian and VICI found yeast in excess of the allowable 12 times and two times respectively.

Also in the sample “A’more” and “Every day” was the fat content of 28 to 59 percent less than indicated on the label. And herring “Meridian”, “Baltic coast” and “A’more” underestimated was the amount of protein.

The result preserves “Every day” was entered in the list of goods with remarks, the other brands in the black list “Roskontrol”.
