Smolensk Governor chastised the mayor and advised to resign

The Governor of Smolensk region Alexei Ostrovsky called 44-year-old mayor of Smolensk Vladimir Soforenko to retire due to the large number of complaints from residents. On Thursday, November 29, reports TASS with reference to the press service of the Governor.

“Ugly and disgusting work of the mayor and the administration of the regional center in many areas of their competence, which I have repeatedly criticized the disregard for Smolensk, which once again demonstrated the reception of citizens”, — said Ostrovsky.

According to him, the mayor should write a letter of resignation at own will. The head of the region emphasized that this decision will be a boon for citizens.

Alexey Ostrovsky has repeatedly drawn the attention of the mayor, Samarenko to the failure of state programs and Federal projects. Local residents complain about the bad condition of the roads, breaks with street lighting, as well as Express dissatisfaction with the work of management companies, said the press service.

Earlier, the court ordered the head of Smolensk to pay a fine in the amount of 60 thousand rubles for the misuse of regional budget funds allocated for landscaping.

Vladimir Soforenko was headed by Smolensk in December 2016.
