Debt-ridden Olympic champion sold the medal and was deceived

The former striker of the national team of Czech hockey Martin Prochazka sold other Olympic gold because of the debt, and after the award appeared at auction. The story forward was published in the Czech publication Isport.

Prochazka was the victim of scammers, trying to buy a property. Because of this a former striker of the national team, mired in debt. According to the athlete, to remedy the situation, he sold the medal to a friend, which is not doubted. Prochazka promised that he would keep the prize in a private collection. However, after almost half a year of his award appeared in one of the online auctions. The debt of the former hockey player is 18 million euros (about 54 million).

Prochazka won the gold medal in the national team at the Olympics in Nagano in 1998. In addition, forward four times became the champion of the world. Prochazka played in the National hockey League (NHL) for “Toronto maple leafs” and “Atlanta Thrashers”, but most of his career spent at home.
