A court in Germany sentenced a refugee from Syria to six and a half years in prison for preparing terrorist attacks. About it reports The Local.

A native of Syria by the name of pit A. was arrested in the city of Schwerin in October 2017. He tried to buy explosives and other components for making bombs. With the help of machines and improvised explosive device he planned to kill or wound approximately 200 people. Their plans he discussed in private chat. Where he was going to hold his attack was not reported.

The Prosecutor demanded for the attacker five and a half years in prison, but the judges decided to increase the punishment for “determination”, which showed a Syrian terrorist attack preparation. “You are going to deprive people of life, thus threatening state security,” said sentencing judge Ulrike Teubner.

Yamen A. arrived in Germany in 2015, in the midst of a migration crisis. He left Syria to avoid military conscription. The investigators found that he had undergone radicalization in 2017 and began to support the terrorists of the “Islamic state” (IG, is prohibited in Russia).

In 2016, the Islamist Anis Amri driving a truck crashed into a Christmas market in Berlin. Killing 11 people. Responsibility for the attack claimed by ISIS.
