Arrested Ukrainian sailors were charged

Military men of naval forces (naval forces) of Ukraine and employees of the security Service of Ukraine (SBU) who were detained in the Kerch Strait, charged with illegal crossing of the Russian border. On Monday, 3 December, the lawyer of one of arrested Ukrainian soldiers, Denis Gritsenko Nikolai Polozov told TASS.

According to Polozova, charges all the defendants were charged after they were arrested. All of them are charged with part 3 of article 222 of the criminal code (“Illegal crossing of border of the Russian Federation”). Polozov also noted that since his arrest had not met with his client. According to him, the volunteers brought in jail for sailors collected things.

On 30 November it was reported that the Ukrainian military seamen and employees of SBU detained in the Kerch Strait and taken into custody of the Kiev district court of Simferopol, transferred to Moscow.

The incident in the Kerch Strait took place on 25 November. Border Department of the FSB detained three Ukrainian military ship after they crossed the Russian border (the FSB claimed that the ships entered the waters, which before accession of Crimea to Russia was a Russian) and did not respond to the requirement to stop. 24 sailors were arrested for two months. In response to the actions of the Russian border Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko imposed martial law in some regions for 30 days.

Kiev does not recognize the Russian status of Crimea. The Ukrainian authorities believe the Peninsula and the waters around him with her.
