A week costs from 26 November to 2 December in the average Russian household decreased by 13 percent, said the research holding “ROMIR”.
Expenses for the last week of November amounted to 4172 roubles a week earlier, households on average spent 4798 rubles. The average purchase size has also decreased and reached 553 rubles.
Previously, the expenses of Russians grew for three consecutive weeks. Analysts explain it by the beginning of the holiday purchases that many begin well before the New year. That spending growth has decreased, associated with forced economy on the eve of salary payments.
Earlier it was reported that the vast majority of Russians (91 percent) admitted that they had to skimp on food. With more than a quarter of citizens spend on food about half of the income, and a fifth of 40 to 50 percent of salary.
