The Russians want to help

About 33 percent of Russians over the last year cases helped those in need. On Tuesday, 4 December, said the Chairman of the Association of volunteer centres, the member of the Public chamber of Russia Artem Metelev, summing up the Year of the volunteer. His words leads RIA Novosti.

“Every third helps actions, deeds, and, therefore, our country has great potential,” said Metelev. According to him, 30 percent of the country helped things, every fourth money, 11 percent.

Most often cases help people aged 18 to 30 years. Volunteers older prefer to donate items or money. Volunteers are more likely to be women — they make up 61 percent of the total, however, according to Meteleva, gradually volunteer come and men.

Metelev stressed that 27 percent of Russians this year have changed the attitude of volunteering for the better, and 17 percent of citizens who do not consider themselves volunteers, thinking about how to become one. “The attitude is changing, formed by culture, and that’s including what was targeted the year of the volunteer”, — he explained.

At the end of last year, President Vladimir Putin announced 2018 year in Russia the year of the volunteer (volunteer). The head of state urged Russians to take an active part in civic life and to set a new pace of development of the volunteer movement.
