Dozens of Italian mobsters caught in Europe and Latin America

About 90 people were detained in Europe and Latin America on suspicion of having links with the Italian crime group the ‘ Ndrangheta. About it reports The Local.

They are accused of working for the criminal syndicate operating around the world. It is reported that Italian law enforcement officers on 5 December held a joint operation with German, Belgian and Dutch intelligence services.

Mafia clan called the ‘ Ndrangheta was formed in Calabria, a mountainous region in the South of Italy. As previously mentioned, The Local, is the only OCG, acting on all inhabited continents. The main goal of it is called the cocaine trade and the purchase of the profit share in different business areas.

On 4 December it became known that the Italian police have arrested a jeweller Settimo Mineo, who is considered the new head of the Sicilian mafia group Cosa Nostra, and at least 45 people suspected of involvement in the mafia.
