If the United States after the withdrawal from the Treaty on intermediate and shorter-range missiles (INF Treaty) will acquire such weapons, Moscow will do the same. On Wednesday, December 5, said the President of Russia Vladimir Putin, reports “Interfax”.
The head of state called, in principle, understand the arguments that only Moscow and Washington do not produce such missiles.
“Many other countries — there are already a dozen, probably — produce such weapons, while Russia and the United States themselves on a bilateral basis restricted. Now, apparently, our American partners believe that the situation has changed so that the United States should have such weapons. What kind of response on our part? Yes, a simple: then we also will do it”, — said Putin.
The President recalled that in 2002 the US unilaterally withdrew from the ABM Treaty, which was one of the cornerstones of international security.
“However, they did not hesitate, quietly came out, incidentally, without any reference to anything — just left and be done with it. Now the same is happening actually, but I guess who would blame this, in my opinion, imprudent,” — said Putin.
October 20, U.S. President Donald trump said that Washington will come out of the INF Treaty, signed in 1987. According to the American leader, Moscow violates this agreement. He added that the United States can strike a new deal with Russia and China.
