Russia will not sell to Azerbaijan coastal missile complex (BRC) “Bal-e” because of the risks it can pose to ships of the Caspian flotilla, in Russian territorial waters. About this newspaper “Kommersant”.
Countries initialed the contract, which involves the signing of a small party of DBK and several dozen rockets 3М24 (export version of the KH-35E), but before signing of the document was not reached.
The publication, citing its own sources, says that the reason for the failure of delivery lies in the position of the Russian Ministry of defense, supply the Department considered it inappropriate. “To argue with that argument was useless, so initialed, the agreement was retracted in the table, our position was heard,” confirmed one of the interlocutors “Kommersant”.
Given the possibility of homing missiles at surface targets, another source of the newspaper pointed to the “very delicate geopolitical nuance” and said, “We do not really wish the weapons were used in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.”
“Bal-e” — export version of the coastal missile complex “Ball”, taken into service in Russia in 2008. It includes self-propelled command centers, control and communications, self-propelled launchers with anti-ship missiles KH-35E, transport and handling machine.
