Confrontation Sagitova and Medvedeva predicted end

Olympic figure skating champion Natalia Bestemianova predicted the end of the confrontation Sagitova Alina and Evgenia Medvedeva. Her words are quoted by “Soviet Sport”.

According to Bestemianova, Japanese Rika Kihira — new star of figure skating, to fight which will afford only the next generation of athletes, at the moment, the speakers at the Junior level. “Soon the talk of the confrontation between Sagitova and Medvedeva can be completed. The first role goes Kihira” she said.

Earlier on 7 December, 16-year-old Kihara won the short program in Grand Prix final with a world record (82,51 points). Sagitova finished second with a score of 77,93 points. Third went to another Russian Elizabeth Tuktamysheva. Girls will present a free program on 9 December.

Medvedev failed to qualify for the Grand Prix final. After upgrading to Brian Orser and moving to Canada, the Russian has not won a single victory in official competitions. This season she took part in two Grand Prix events in Canada and France, taking third and fourth place respectively.

Medvedev — the silver medalist of the Olympics in Pyeongchang in women’s figure skating. At the Games she lost only Sagitova. Both worked under the guidance of Russian coach Eteri Tutberidze.
