Naval forces (Navy) of Ukraine will continue to use the Kerch Strait for the passage of their ships. About it on air of TV channel “Direct” said the Minister of defence of Ukraine Stepan Poltorak, the video is available on YouTube.
Speaking about the incident that occurred in the Kerch Strait on November 25, the Minister assured that Kiev did not violate any point any contract. “We acted exactly the same as before. But we will not give up our right to pass through the Kerch Strait and our right to be present in the sea of Azov”, — said Poltorak.
To date, he said, “nobody walks”, but Ukraine will resume the use of the Strait, when its Navy will be ready. “We will not stop the rotation, strengthening our capabilities,” he added.
Ukrainian ships will again pass through the Straits in compliance with all international norms and rights, when the Navy will be ready, said Poltorak. “By that time, I think international pressure on Russia will let them know that they do not comply with international obligations”, — said the Minister.
Kiev, in turn, can relinquish its right to use the Kerch Strait. “If today we refuse passage across the Kerch Strait, it will mean that Russia has completely invaded the Azov sea, we will lose another territory”, — said the Poltorak.
