One of leaders “Other Russia” was sentenced to three years for arms smuggling

Matveevo-Kurganskiy district court of the Rostov region sentenced the co-Chairman of the unregistered party “the Other Russia” Alexander Averin to three years in prison on charges of attempted arms smuggling, according to a Telegram-the channel party.

The state prosecution asked to sentence Averin to four years of imprisonment.

The man was detained in April 2018 on the border of the self-proclaimed Luhansk people’s Republic and the Rostov region. In the “Other Russia” claim that the Makarov pistol which was found in things Averina when passing the border, he was planted. According to the prosecution, Averin wanted to illegally smuggle weapons through the checkpoint.

Alexander Averin has long been the press Secretary of the party, after the outbreak of hostilities in Ukraine have gone to fight in the Donbass, along with many party members. When the military conflict has passed in the latent phase, the NBP started to come back and report on political persecution in Russia.

The party “the Other Russia” was created in 2010 after a ban of the National Bolshevik party (NBP). The permanent leader of the national Bolsheviks — the writer Eduard Limonov.
