Russian parents see online dangers for children

Almost three-quarters of parents in Russia believe the Internet is a dangerous environment for children. About it it is spoken in research of the analytical centre “National Agency for financial studies” (NAFI), reports TASS.

Dangerous to children the Internet is considered 72 percent of parents. However, 55 percent said that the network is useful for minor content.

On the contrary, every third boy stated that information on the Internet cannot harm them. Also, 76 percent of adolescents use multiple sources of information to make an objective picture of what is happening, while 24 percent trust the usual sources.

In addition, the vast majority of teenagers — 90 percent — said about the benefits of gadgets and applications in everyday life. Also, 45 percent of parents believe that children use digital devices for games, while confirmed that only 20 percent of teenagers.

The study “Children and technology” conducted by the analytical center NAFI and QIWI in may and August 2018. A survey of parents of children under 17 and an online survey of adolescents 14-17 years was conducted in 150 villages in 46 regions of Russia. The total volume of a sample of 800 parents (the maximum sampling error of 3.4 percent) and 412 adolescents (the maximum sampling error of 4.8 percent).
