Foreign intelligence service (SVR) of Russia tries to create in the UK a new spy network after employees of the Main intelligence Directorate (GRU) of the General staff was removed from the case on the poisoning Skrobala. The SVR believes that London is more dangerous and more professional GRU, reports The Telegraph, citing a senior source in the British government.
The power of the Kingdom is increasingly concerned about the attempts of the RAF to return to the Russian intelligence foothold in the country. The Department, which the newspaper calls the equivalent of MI6, allegedly received from the Kremlin a task to resume operations in Britain. The work of the GRU, which London considers the organizer of the assassination attempt on Sergei Skripal using chemical warfare agents Novichok, was successfully neutralized. However, British intelligence agencies believe that the SVR is much more professional and dangerous and poses a great threat.
“We are more afraid of what we don’t know about the SVR, compared with what we know about the GRU — said a senior source in the British government. — If Moscow will give SVR more resources and freedom of action in the United Kingdom (which, we assume, happens), it is much more disturbing because it’s a more professional organization.”
Another source noted that the network of GRU in Britain were destroyed, and the Russian scouts will need years to regroup. After the attack in Salisbury, Britain expelled a Russian diplomat 23. Authorities believe they were agents of the GRU and SVR.
Former GRU officer Sergey Skripal, recruited by Western intelligence agencies in 1990-ies, and his daughter Julia was found unconscious in the square in Salisbury on 4 March. British authorities said that the attack is Russia — Skrypali was poisoned developed in the USSR nerve substance of the Novice class. September 5 London named names and showed pictures of the accused, Aleksander Petrov, and Ruslan Bashirov, which, according to Britain, working for the GRU. After a few days and Bashirov Petrov gave an interview to the chief editor of RT Margarita Simonyan, in which he said that have nothing to do with intelligence, arrived in Britain to “break away”.
Later Bellingcat and The Insider has published an investigation which argued that Petrov and Bashirov really work at GRU, and their real names are Alexander and Anatoly Mishkin Chapiha, respectively. Bashirov-Chapiha, according to journalists, has the title of Hero of Russia.
Moscow has repeatedly denied any involvement in the assassination Skrobala, and at the highest level have stated that Petrov and Bocharov are not related to intelligence or to crime.
