In the Black sea, the us sent a large landing ship “Fort McHenry” (USS Fort McHenry), the press service of the Sixth fleet of the U.S. Navy.

The ship entered the Strait of the Dardanelles.

The commander of the Sixth fleet Lisa Franchetti stated that these measures demonstrate the collective resolve of the US and its NATO allies in the region to provide security in the Black sea.

“Fort McHenry” it can carry five landing craft air cushion or 21 boat of the LCM-6. It can provide transfer of over 400 Marines. The ship participated in exercises off the coast of Norway in 2016, and in 2015 went to Yemen for a possible evacuation of U.S. Embassy staff and was used during the rescue operations following the massive earthquake in Haiti in 2010.
