The United States blocked indefinitely the supply of Russian short-haul passenger aircraft Sukhoi Superjet 100 in Iran. This was reported by Israeli Agency ILNA, with reference to the representative of the Association of Iranian airlines Maksud Asadi Samani.
The reason was the decision of the Ministry of Finance of the USA about the refusal to issue the export certificate. It is noted that the resolution of the U.S. Treasury required if supply ships contain more than 10 percent U.S.-manufactured parts. The Russian side failed to reduce their number for the aircraft Sukhoi Superjet 100, in connection with which the United States blocked the supply of aircraft, said the Agency interlocutor.
“Because of the lack of the license of the foreign assets control in the United States about the supply of aircraft could not go and speeches,” explained Samani. According to him, the replacement American parts will take a long time.
In October, Iranian Ambassador to Russia Mehdi Sanaei told about the problems with the purchase of Sukhoi Superjet 100. According to him, the Iranian airline must obtain permission from the American supplier of some components.
The possibility of supplying Iran with 10-12 units of Sukhoi Superjet 100 is discussed in 2015. Specific implementation plans hampered by the sanctions regime imposed by the United States against the Islamic Republic in 2010. In August 2017 the manufacturer of the liner sent to the Office of foreign assets control of the U.S. Treasury an application for approval of aircraft deliveries to Iran.
