The minimum wage (SMIC) in Russia can be upgraded twice. About it in interview to “Rossiyskaya Gazeta” said the head of the Federation of independent trade unions of Russia (FNPR) Mikhail Shmakov.
According to him, the Federation will insist on the revision of the calculation methodology of the minimum wage and consumer basket monetary expression of who he is. “And we will insist that the “basket” has expanded to the size of the minimum consumer budget. Its size is approximately twice more than the present value of the consumer basket — about 25 thousand rubles,” — said Shmakov.
The cost of food, in his opinion, should be no more than one third of the total consumer basket. According to the present method, they account for half of the expenses of the working population, yet 25 per cent on non-food goods and services.
Shmakov also told about another initiative of the FNPR — the amendment of the Labour code, which will clearly identify which incentive and compensation allowances for special working conditions and are included in the value of the minimum wage and which is accrued beyond it.
In 2018 the minimum wage equal to the subsistence minimum. It is set for the entire year and meets the subsistence level for the second quarter of the previous year. The minimum wage cannot be reduced. In 2019, the minimum wage in Russia on average is equal to 11 280 rubles, which is 117 rubles more than in 2018.
