The Orthodox Church of Ukraine (PCU) is forced to return to the Tomos of autocephaly of the Patriarchate of Constantinople. About this informed the head of the Department for religions and nationalities of Ministry of culture Andriy yurash at the Liturgy in Kiev, TV channel NewsOne.
“Now it is signed only by the Ecumenical Patriarch. Then there should be signatures of all the members of the Holy Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate,” he explained. The reason why it happened, the Minister did not elaborate.
Until the evening of 7 January, the document will remain in Kiev to be seen by everyone, and he was then sent to Istanbul. The Synod will take place in two days, after signature of the Tomos finally transported to Ukraine.
The Tomos of autocephaly for the newly created Orthodox Church in Ukraine (PCU) was signed by Patriarch Bartholomew January 5 and the next day was brought to Kiev, where he was handed over to the head of the religious organization of the Epiphany.
Ptsu was created mainly from non-canonical Church organizations December 15 to the unification Council, which was initiated by Bartholomew and the President of Ukraine.
