Russian lawyer Natalia Veselnitskaya, which was interrogated on the case of Russian intervention in the American elections, faced a new charge in the United States. This writes The New York Times.
Veselnitskaya is accused of obstructing American justice during the investigation into the incident of money laundering in the Ministry of justice.
In the United States believe that the Scam involved an influential Russian businessman and his investment company. The Ministry of justice sent to the Russian government the letter with the request to assist in the investigation, however, a response letter justifies the person and his work.
The American Prosecutor’s office indicates that Veselnitskaya secretly collaborated with high-ranking officials in the Russian Prosecutor’s office and participated in the preparation of the formal response received in Federal court in Manhattan.
In April Veselnitskaya questioned in the Senate of the United States Commission on the case of Russian interference in the election of the American President. The interest of investigators called her meeting with the son of President Donald trump prior to his election in 2016. It was argued that the purpose of the meeting was to collect compromising information on the second participant of the race — Hillary Clinton.
The lawyer said that their communication with the President’s son was of a private nature and had nothing to do with the Trump Sr., nor Clinton, nor to elections in General.
Russia has repeatedly accused of meddling in the US presidential election. American journalists and officials claimed that “Russian hackers” allegedly kidnapped the correspondence of the Democrats and published in the Internet and tried to get into the electronic vote counting system. Moscow denies all the charges.
